BarCampCHS 2

Yes, it's true - we're doing it again!

BarCamp Charleston will be taking place Saturday, November 13th.

While we're still working through the details, which we'll share in due time, please clear the date on your calendar because you'll definitely want to join us! We're expecting a bigger, better, BarCampier event that will see the best geeks, designers, entrepreneurs and bacon experts the area has to offer.

What can you do to help? Well, being as we're an all volunteer, non-profit event, we need sponsors and a venue! We also need help with planners, so if you want to roll up your sleeves and help out - let us know!

Stay tuned - more to follow!

#barcampchs video!

You might have seen a very friendly bloke running around during BarCamp with a video camera - well, here's the finished product!

Special "thank you" to our friend Geoff Marshall for taking the time to make this - many others talked about it, but you came through with a stellar video! We'll miss you! (Geoff is returning to England soon... sniff, sniff.)

Post BarCampCHS coverage

NOTE: This page will be updated when we find new content to add - please leave us a comment with something we've missed! Thank you!

In addition to the previous press we wanted to capture some of the social media output resulting from Saturday. Check back (or if you're logged in, click on "watch this post") because we'll be updating this over the next week or so.

What to expect

So, you're all registered but still have no idea what the hell BarCamp is or what's going to happen when you walk through the doors on Saturday? Well, we're here to help. Here's a quick run-down on what to expect at BarCampCHS.

Our Platinum Sponsors

There have been previous attempts to host a BarCamp in Charleston, so why did this one take off when others stalled? There are probably multiple answers, but one thing is clear: our Platinum Sponsors did much of the heavy lifting, and we're all deeply grateful.

For starters, the concept of BarCampCHS '09 is based on the generosity of Alan St. Clair. Alan is a businessman who sees that the profitable future of the Lowcountry depends on the expansion of its knowledge-based economy, and his Lowcountry Innovation Center is a bold bet on that future. His early support moved BarCamp out of the realm of abstract possibility and grounded it in reality.
