I received my first computer the Christmas of '83. It was a TI-99/4A, and I was 7 years old. I've been programming ever since. In high school I had the opportunity to program at NASA for a summer. It was there that Kernighan and Ritchie taught me what real programming was all about.

I received a BS in Computer Science in '97. I spent a year in the defence industry after that, followed by 5 years in telecommunications. I'm currently finishing up a PhD in Neuroscience at the Medical University of South Carolina, after which I'll be jumping back into the computer field full time.
