My camera sucks but I want better photos

I don't follow the latest point-and-shoot releases and can't give people advice on specific cameras to buy. But, that doesn't stop people from asking me all the time. By understanding a few key photography concepts, people can make better use of the existing functions of the cameras they already have and make better informed decisions on their next purchase.

This workshop will be ongoing in the visual arts area. Bring your camera and examples of pictures you wish had come out better, i.e. What was your goal? I'll try to help decipher the menu options that might have achieved it and offer tips for shooting simply for better results.
