Lowcountry Innovation Center

The first ever BarCamp Charleston will be held at the recently opened Lowcountry Innovation Center in the Navy Yard at Noisette in North Charleston, South Carolina.

The Lowcountry Innovation Center (LIC) is a first-of-its-kind building in the region designed specifically to serve as incubator space for creative industry firms, technology startups, and knowledge-based workers.

The LIC was the first location we approached and the overwhelming response and support offered was enough to make the decision easy - this was definitely the place for BarCamp! One tour through the facility and we discovered ample space for sessions, workshops and other meetings. The 40,000 square foot building was originally constructed in 1943, but has since been completely renovated and boasts open, accessible meeting spaces, kitchen and cafe area, and environmentally friendly building practices. Alan St. Clair, the owner of LIC, has been a huge help in kicking off BarCamp by allowing us to use the space for planning meetings in addition to volunteering staff to work the day of the event, and providing refreshments throughout the day. We sincerely thank him for his generosity!
